Ceiliúradh Ceist - Tree Planting Ceremony

On Wednesday the 1st of February St Brigid’s Day, we celebrated Ceiliúradh Ceist Day 2023.  Ceiliúradh Ceist is all about celebrating and showcasing all the work that goes on in our schools daily.

To mark this we had a tree planting ceremony, where we planted an evergreen Irish Oak tree. The Oak is connected to St Brigid, County Kildare and our school founders the Presentation sisters.  Presentation Sister Colette McCloskey shared with us at the planting ceremony the symbolism of the acorn. She spoke about how the story of the Presentation Sisters has often been described as “from acorn to oak” – a small seed growing into a large leafy tree, whose leaves provide shade and shelter and which, in time, bear fruit.”

We hope our Oak Tree will a continue to be a symbol of our founding story and the Presentation Sister’s founding story and of how each of our students can grow and flourish under the care of Scoil Mhuire Community School.
