Our 1st Green Flag: History for Scoil Mhuire

After 2 years of hard-work and dedication, Scoil Mhuire’s Green Schools committee were honoured to receive the school’s first Green Flag under the theme of litter and waste. The committee, lead by Dylan, Malwina and Robyn (pictured) have campaigned for a change in student attitudes towards waste management, litter prevention and climate change within our school. The honour of receiving this award is testament to the leadership and drive they have shown since commencing this project in 2017.

Our school now has clearly segregated waste bins in student common areas, reusable water bottles are provided for incoming first years and awareness of climate issues is on the increase. Sincere thanks to the Board of Management along with the school community for their help and support. The departing 6th Years hope that their legacy will continue through the work of the upcoming committee and urge both new 1st years and existing students to volunteer their time to work for change.

A special word of thanks to Ms Kennedy for her guidance and support for our Green Schools team. Well done to all!
